When I was learning to drive there weren't even half as many driving schools as there are now, however I did find a driving school not far from where I lived, that some great offers on lessons. I had bought myself a classic car, so I needed to have manual lessons. I was bricking it, and I really had drummed it into my own head that I would not be able to get use to changing the gears, and that would be my down fall. I started having my lessons and found the gears OK, the only problems I had were getting to the biting point before the car cuts out and remembering what gear I was in. I was forever looking down to see what gear I was in, and forever getting told off fordoing it!
In total I must have had about 24 lessons before I took my actual test. To save a bit of extra cost I decided to drive my classic car on the test day. When the examiner came out to meet me in the car park, he was over the moon to see my car. He was a classic car enthusiast and had a VW Beetle like mine, when he was younger. I passed my test first time and was so chuffed. The examiner asked if he could drive my car when I had completed the test. He gave some details on some good insurance groups too.
When I got home that night I researched the insurance groups and couldn't believe how much cheaper they all were compared to the one I was with. It was just a case of then, deciding which one of the insurance groups I was to go with. I had my Beetle for about 4 years before deciding to sell it. I missed it so much at the start. It was like torture when I saw one out and about. I really want to start saving up for a VW Camper. They are great too. Where I used to live, someone further down the street had one with massive flowers painted all over it and flower power sprayed on the back. After I moved away I used to see it all the time, But I have not seen it now in over 5 years. I hope it's still running somewhere, it was such an amazing Camper!
