I am 17yrs old; hardly 24hrs to go and I will be of 18yrs, I was so exited for my coming birthday. I remember the day when my mom or dad use to take me to market or school or for picnic in their car; and I use to shout for a test drive. Every time they refused me saying that I was a kid and too young to be seated on the driving seat. That surely annoys me however I use to make myself happy just by imagining what all I can do when I will be of 18 and will own my own car? Highly inspired by the Hollywood action movies and stunt scene; I wanted to set the road on fire by driving the faster car possible. Also felt, somewhat true, that cool sports car can also help me get a cool girl by my side. Hardly a day to go and then all the dreams will come to a reality. I will apply for the driving license in driving schools UK.
Finally when I was 18yrs, I logged in the website of driving schools uk, and went through the legal checklist requirements for the drivers. I also discovered that everyone is required to pass the theory part of the driving test before they take the practical part of the driving test. I was keen for my practical test but the thought of the theory test was melting down my excitement.
I took some guidance from my parents and friends on the theoretical test part . Dad told me that the intention for the theory test is to prove that you know and understand all the rules of driving, of the Highway Code and the rules of the road.
I arrived at the one of the driving schools UK, test centre where I saw the bank of computers, and I was provided some guidance before the test. Finally it was the time for my theory test I was too excited thinking that I will be moving one step ahead to get my license. At the same time I was asking myself do I have sufficient knowledge about the Highway Rules and code to clear this test? What if I fail? What if I am asked something which I have never heard of? Can I cheat? So many questions but all will be answered very soon once I start attempting the test. I discovered that there was an invigilator to check there is no cheating occurring. So one answer was already answered. Finally I took my seat, the computer displayed my name, and the test question. Multiple Choice question were showcased which was so simple and easy for me that I quickly ran my fingers on the touch-screen that I was provided. There After I attempted Hazard Perception Test where I watched a movie clip filmed from the perspective of a car driver, and I was suppose to observe a developing hazard. The purpose of the test was to examine potential hazard is spotted by the driver or not. Once my test was over, I came out of the hall with a broad smile on my face knowing for sure I am going to get my Auto license very soon.
Finally came the most awaited test - Practical Test on auto Driving, this was the most important test for the learner drivers and is must pass to obtain a driving license. The practical test is taken on the road, I was seated on the driving seat and the examiner from driving schools UK, was directing me around a pre-determined route which was totally unknown to me. I was in the car for around 45-50mins, I was trying to give my best and I believe, I gave my best. The examiner was marking me for every fault I make; although I believe I made only few minor faults. Once the test was over I was keen to hear the feedback, examiner approached me and said that I need to improve my parking skills and U-turn, rest is fine, and he bought his hands forward and congratulated me. I smiled and today I proudly own a license.
Today I have my own car but do not have the excitement to drive as earlier. Nor do I have a beautiful girl by my side, but I have my wife. I can’t even set the roads on fire as I decided in my teenage, because of the traffic. So I think I should now learn to fly a helicopter!!!!!!
